Humans were never great at guesstimating their food intake. This is why obesity has become so rampant, and perhaps also why Malaysia is now crowned the most obese country in Southeast Asia.
Partly to blame is our unbridled love for late night snacking (or rather, all-day snacking), and the 24-hour food joints littering the city do not help the case.
Hawkers are perhaps the most loved Malaysian eating destination. Some would argue that they are the epitome of Malaysian culture. None of us can imagine a Malaysia without our beloved street food. But with high rates of heart disease and diabetes staring at us in the eyes, perhaps it’s time to make better nutritional decisions while lepak-ing with our friends?
