Are you interested in the most effective fat loss method? Of course you are, everyone is. Fat loss is a billion dollar industry, with products ranging from magic pills, cutting edge supplements, wonder powders, high tech thingamajig equipment, gyms, slimming treatments, fitness programmes and the list goes on. It’s mind boggling!
Where do you start if you want to lose 10 kgs?
You want to solve your fat loss problem, but the fat loss problem is a relatively easy fix if you stick to what’s scientifically proven, safe and sustainable for the long ride ahead. Not forgetting that it has to be affordable.
We want to tell you about a few ways to burn fat. There are mainly two ways to go about it.
1. Steady State Cardio
The least effective fat burning workout is steady state cardio. This is what you get in conventional gyms: an acre of stationary bikes, treadmills and elliptical trainers row upon row in front of televisions. People slog away while they read a magazine, watch TV, talk on the phone, text, or talk to their neighbor. You’ll see any number of ‘multi-tasking activities’ being done while people supposedly work out.
The fact is that with this kind of workout you will burn calories while you work out, and a minimal amount at that, but the calorie burning stops when the workout stops. Not only is this a boring and time consuming method of fat loss, studies show that it’s ineffective, documenting that some people actually gain weight doing this due to increased appetite [1] but not an increase in metabolism or lean muscle tone.

2. Weight-Loss Programmes
Well, you could opt for magic pills and supplements. The plain fact is these are chemicals and artificial foods going into your body.
What about slimming treatments? Well okay, if you have a cool easy minimum of RM10,000 to spare. According to all the ads littered across the streets, “8 out of 10 people who go through this slimming programme testify that this method works!” However, what the ads don’t show you is these people ballooning back to their pre-treatment weight in a short while. Fast, easy weight-loss methods are simply not sustainable in the long run.

So what is an affordable sustainable, and proven way?
3. Combination of Strength Training and HIIT
The beauty of this next fat burning workout is that it’s short. In fact, there are way more benefits than just the decreased length of the workout.
It incorporates strength training and HIIT (high intensity interval training). This sort of workout is twofold in it’s effectiveness:
First of all, strength training increases lean muscle tone. Muscle is metabolically active so that naturally increases metabolism even at rest. With more muscle, you will burn more calories even while doing nothing. Get yourself moving and the calorie-burning is exponentially increased compared to someone with less muscle.
Next, HIIT increases lactic acid production. When you train and get that ‘burn’ in the muscles, your body is training anaerobically and producing lactic acid which is a precursor to GH or growth hormone. GH helps the body burn fat more effectively. Between an increase in lean muscle which increases metabolism and increase in naturally occurring GH, a workout that includes strength training and HIIT is a win-win!
